Pedestrians are recognized as “vulnerable road users” by Florida Law, along with cyclists, scooter operators, and anyone riding an animal, farm tractor, skateboard, wheelchair, or similar. If struck by an automobile, pedestrians are at risk of experiencing serious bodily injury or even death, seeing as they are generally not as protected as those traveling in a vehicle.
Pedestrians, or “non-auto travelers”, are particularly vulnerable to injuries as they typically lack the same protection as in-auto travelers.
